RIDS Dahlia Shows
The Rhode Island Dahlia Society hosts two shows annually, one in August at the Washington County Fair In Richmond, and another in September at the Cold Spring Community Center in Wickford, RI.

RIDS at Green Animals Topiary Garden
In 2006, the Preservation Society of Newport County invited the Rhode Island Dahlia Society to lend its expertise in reinstating what had previously been a dahlia garden at the Green Animals Topiary Garden in Portsmouth, RI . Presented with a virtually blank slate, RIDS members accepted the challenge, providing tubers, labor and expertise in siting and planting the dahlias based on the configuration and conditions noted by the site's horticulturist. Many of the tubers that were donated belonged to Roberta Achtermeier, former president of RIDS who had recently passed away. The 2006 garden was dedicated in her honor. RIDS and Green Animals will continue to work collaboratively on the dahlia garden, planting new varieties each year for the public to enjoy.

RIDS members promote dahlia cultivation
