05/23/2011 - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The planting at Green Animals planting has been rescheduled for Thursday, May 26th at 10:00AM. Please contact Donna Lane at 781-769-3854 or donnamlane@verizon.net if you can volunteer (members only).
The RIDS planting date at Green Animals is Wednesday, May 18th at 10:00AM. Please contact Donna Lane at 781-769-3854 or donnamlane@verizon.net if you wish to volunteer (members only). Rain dates are Monday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 26th.
The RIDS Tuber Auction is Sunday, May 15th. Please bring your extra tubers with variety name and number marked directly on the tubers. Come at 12:00PM and help set up the tables and trays for the tubers and plants. Please bring any unmarked tubers to be used in grab bags. The tuber auction will begin promptly at 1:00PM.

DAHLIA DAYS AT GREEN ANIMALS! Visit Green Animals, 380 Cory's Lane, Portsmouth, RI from August 6 to September 6, 10AM - 5PM and take in the colorful and historic display of over 200 dahlias. The dahlia garden is a cooperative effort between The Preservation Society of Newport County and the Rhode Island Dahlia Society.

05/20/09 - Volunteers are needed on Wednesday, May 20th for the annual dahlia planting at the Green Animals Topiary Gardens in Portsmouth, RI, starting at 10:30am. Please call Donna Lane at 781-769-3854 if you are planning to attend. (posted 04/18/09)

05/03/09 - Volunteers are needed to help set up and break down for the RIDS Tuber Auction on May 3rd. Members donating tubers or plants should drop them off by noon to allow auction volunteers sufficient time to get everything organized prior to the start of the sale at 1:00pm. All tubers and plants should be labeled by variety name and classification number. There will be a brief member meeting following the auction and - as always - the more hands the merrier when putting away the tables and chairs, as well as tidying up the hall after the event. The RIDS Summer Picnic was held at Green Animals Topiary Gardens on Sunday, August 3rd. The turnout was terrific, the weather was splendid, the gardens (as always) were gorgeous, and a fabulous day was had by all. Photos will be posted when available. (posted 08/05/08)
Donna Lane was invited to speak at the Newport Flower Show again this year.
On Saturday, June 28th, she demonstrated Gardening in Pots. Nearly every seat in the tent
